The client purchased this 1950’s brutalist office building (originally built for Raytheon Defense Company) for a new cosmetic surgery center and medical spa.

The design strategies for the renovation included:

  • celebrating the existing structure rather than masking it in any way – letting the original materials be true to themselves

  • creating a public face and formal entrance to a building originally designed as a more defensible architecture

  • integrating natural material finishes throughout

  • bringing in nature, by surrounding the building with as many trees as possible

  • expanding the floor to ceiling heights (by eliminating a 7′ dropped ceiling)
