This 4,000 sf residence, in Myers Park, was completed in May 2019. The home is located on an infill site on one of Charlotte’s commercial boulevards, Providence Road; although the rear portion of the lot falls within the neighboring Hermitage Court Historic District’s boundaries. Design elements, such as the two-story front porch, learn from the site’s historic neighbors. The use of Chicago brick and poured concrete will stand the test of time and lend a stately presence along Providence Road.

The massing was broken into separate volumes with different setbacks, so as to 1) make the building appear smaller in size 2) create a strong sense of vertical expression and 3) bring natural light deep into the space. This also allowed us to incorporate two interiorized courtyards, one featuring a small plunge pool.
