For this project, we drew inspiration from John Nolen’s original idea for the surrounding Myers Park neighborhood – which was “a new town in a forest.” We scaled his vision down to the level of the individual house — designing two interiorized courtyards, one a garden and the other a more formal entertaining space, both heavily landscaped. Large windows and glass doors provide plenty of natural light, giving the owners a true sense of living in the landscape. Design elements, such as the two-story front porch, learn from the site’s historic neighbors, while the use of Chicago brick and poured concrete will stand the test of time.
